Backup & Restore Add-on for Larapen

Important: this is not a standalone application. It is an add-on for Larapen, which must be purchased and installed first.

Never lose your site. The Backup & Restore add-on takes full, database-only or files-only backups on a schedule, encrypts the archives, ships them to off-site storage and prunes old copies according to your retention policy. When something goes wrong, or when you move to a new server, the guarded restore workflow walks you through a dry run, the options and a final confirmation before touching anything.

Nightly Insurance, Off-Site

Store backups on the server itself, on S3-compatible storage (Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, Wasabi, MinIO), over FTP or SFTP, or on Dropbox and Google Drive. Large archives are split into parts, and a health check tells you before the first run whether mysqldump, disk space and PHP limits are in order; a pure-PHP dumper takes over when mysqldump is not available.

Everything a Backup Plan Needs

• Backup Types: Full, database-only and files-only, with include and exclude rules for the files part.
• Encryption & Splitting: Password-protected archives and automatic splitting of large files.
• Destinations: Local, S3-compatible, FTP/SFTP, Dropbox and Google Drive, several at once.
• Schedules & Retention: Daily, weekly or custom schedules through the Laravel scheduler, with keep-last-N and keep-for-N-days pruning.
• Guarded Restore: Dry run, selective restore (database, files or both), maintenance mode and a confirmation step.
• Migration: Restore a backup on a fresh install to move the site to a new server.
• Console Commands: Run, list and prune backups from the command line or your own scripts.

How It Works

1. Check & Configure: Run the health check, add at least one off-site destination and set the schedule and retention.
2. Back Up: Backups run automatically; launch one by hand before any risky change.
3. Restore When Needed: Pick an archive, run the dry run, confirm, and the add-on restores the database and files.
